Texas Family: San Antonio and New Braunfels

We traveled this week to San Antonio to visit Felicia's family and Eric and Krystal. The night we arrived we all met at Grandma James' house and then went to dinner at Houlihans. The next day Krystal was working when we first arrived so we met Eric to do the river walk.
We went shopping at the art shops in La Villita on the river.
Eric got a copper rose for Krystal and Felicia got a photo of the Alamo. We returned to the river and crossed the bridge.

Eric had his first day of work the next day. The next night we met Eric and Krystal for dinner at their apartment. It was nicely set up.
We had takeout BBQ from Rudy's. It included peach cobbler for dessert.
Then it was time to play "Heads Up"...
...and "It Came To Pass".
I gave Eric a father's blessing as he was beginning his new work assignment and would soon be starting a Genetics class. Krystal was also starting school as well as working. She is going to take 9 credit hours and work full time.

The next day Felicia was meeting her friend for lunch.
I was by myself so I rented a 1000 lb Harley (the only bike you can rent in San Antonio) and rode through the hill country to Lukenbach. This was a historical marker on the way.
This was a crossing of the Guadalupe along the Fredricksburg wagon trail.
Next I came across a river entry point.

The next river was the Blanco. This is a crossing of the Blanco.
Finally I rode into Lukenbach. It was not even a town recognized by the Harley's GPS.
The town has 3 permanent residents. The post office closed in 1971...

The post office is now a gift shop and the entrance to the restaurant and dance hall. People were starting to gather for the night's entertainment, Whitney Rose. I couldn't stay so I stood in line for T-shirt...
...got a hamburger and cherry limeade...

... went to the rest room with the chicken and headed back to San Antonio.

On Saturday we met Eric and Krystal in New Braunfells to visit Natural Bridge Caverns.
There were massive columns in the chapel room in the cavern.
This formation had a scary smiling face.
Here we are on our way out.
Sunday was Stake Conference at the new Cibolo Valley Stake Center.
After church, everyone relaxed and read.
Grandma James had new carpet installed just before we arrived. The old carpet was ruined when the roof collapsed during a storm in April. She had the roof repaired, the ceiling repaired, and the carpets replaced. The second day we were there, her landscaping crew cut her phone line. I repaired it temporarily and AT&T came to repair it permanently. Fine times in SA!

Here is a picture of Haley we found on Grandma's computer.
